The world's most exported basmati: extra-long, slender grains that more than double in length when cooked.
Pusa Basmati 1121 · steam and raw
Released for cultivation in 2003, Pusa Basmati 1121 is India's top foreign-exchange-earning basmati. Its slender grain typically lengthens 2 to 2.5 times on cooking (a record 21.5 mm cooked length is listed in the Limca Book of Records) and stays fluffy and separate. Steam 1121 is creamy-white and firm, preferred by hotels and food-service; raw 1121 is whiter and softer, preferred for home cooking and retail packs.
